Staffing

We provide nurses for 24/7 skilled private duty, in-home nursing care throughout North Carolina. Our goal is to make sure each client is covered for 100% of their approved hours of service. Working with each client and their families individually to arrange their allotted hours to best suit their coverage needs allows us to offer different shift time options. This gives us variety and more options to offer our nurses than the standard 7a, 3p or 11p shift times. We are owned by nurses who make themselves available when needed to help ensure client’s coverage expectations are met. We are fully dedicated to providing our clients with compassionate, quality homecare.

Rewards and Recognition

We would like to recognize and congratulate the following five outstanding caregivers for going "Above and Beyond" for our patients during the month of October 2011! Each was nominated by a member of the PHI community for making a difference in the life of a patient or colleague:

  • Jennifer Pilgreen, RN
Jennifer has worked closely with a team to make major improvements in their documentation style, completeness, and in proper order writing. She has been hands on in the home setting the example. Jennifer’s manner and knowledge in working with her teams creates a good learning environment and positive results. Awesome leadership!

  • Paula Everette, LPN and Kenny Pinto, LPN
This is a team recognition. All the client teams working at PHI are exceptional in their own way, and unique to each patient, I just wanted to recommend Paula Everette and Kenny Pinto for their professional contribution to the team of a client in the Wilmington area. Paula and Kenny were not only absolutely professional and the “top of their craft,” but most importantly were caring, compassionate and treated the client like a member of their own family. Each treated the client’s family like members of their own families as well … always keeping them informed, never too busy to answer their questions anytime day or night – and assuring them they were doing all they could to help with the client’s ALS. Both kept PHI notified of all appropriate information and changes promptly. Both are “poster nurses” for PHI and should be recognized for that. Thank you both!

  • Carlos Romero, LPN
Selfless dedication. In homecare, a client’s team can change on a moment’s notice, often leading to a rush to find nurses to cover open shifts. Especially, on shorthanded teams. When Carlos arrived at 6am for his 12-hour day shift Wednesday morning, he learned that the night shift was suddenly uncovered. We approached Carlos and a teammate to work out a creative solution to keep their client covered throughout the night. Although the other nurse typically works night shifts, he agreed to relieve Carlos immediately so that Carlos could rest and return for the open shift scheduled to begin later that evening. We appreciate each nurse’s willingness to sacrifice their time to help our client when needed most!

  • Karen Grays, LPN
When clients are hospitalized, it can sometimes be difficult to coordinate their discharges on short notice, especially just before a weekend. But that is exactly where we found ourselves with a client living in a remote area earlier in October. We were fortunate to catch up with Karen at 5pm on a Friday just before her client’s discharge scheduled only hours later. Not only did Karen agree to arrive at 8pm and cover the remaining 4 hours of the client’s scheduled shift, but she also agreed to stay until 8am the following morning. Her extra effort gave the client’s family hours of much needed rest. Awesome!
